Hunt Journals 2017

Nevada Outdoorsmen in Wheelchairs ™ is please to announce this year’s participants.

Meet the team…

William “Bill” Winchester’s Story:

I am a Reno native that began hunting in my later teens. I have enjoyed the sport well into adulthood while juggling work, kids and life. I began my career in the fire service in the local area of Reno Nevada. In 2014 I was involved in a bicycle accident that left me paralyzed from my armpits down. Shortly after my accident I retired out as a captain for a local fire department.

In 2016, I was struck by a car while riding my hand bike. This was my second bicycle accident and second spinal cord injury in two years. I thought my life and activities were over. In 2016, a friend and fellow firefighter, applied for me to be a Nevada outdoorsman in wheelchair hunter, for which I was accepted.

The Nevada Outdoorsmen in wheelchair program opened my eyes to see the fact that, just because I am in a wheelchair does not mean that my limitations are just that “limiting”. I am so thankful that they showed me that I can teach my sons how to hunt and instill the love that I have for hunting.

I now ride a razor, hunt, fish, boat, snow ski and do a great deal of the activities I did prior to my paralyzation.

Thank you very much Nevada Outdoorsman in Wheelchairs.
