Newmont is a proud community partner dedicated to creating viable jobs, engaging in professional and environment minded mining practices, and promoting volunteerism and sponsorship. Currently, Newmont controls approximately 2.7 million acres in Nevada with roughly 56,500 acres used for mining and mine production. These undertakings provide over 3,400 industry professional jobs which cross many mining disciplines with an average annual salary of $86,000.

In addition to the positive economic impact Newmont creates for the State of Nevada, the company encourages and matches employee voluntary contributions to various non-profits in Northern Nevada including Nevada Outdoorsmen in Wheelchairs ™. This program is known as the Legacy Fund. Coupled with these outstanding community activities, Newmont has recognized rangelands and ranches as natural resources which should be preserved. In 1984, Newmont and its subsidiary, Elko Land and Livestock Company, purchased TS Ranch. This 400,000 acre ranch supports a large range and livestock operation, power plant and is host to the Nevada Outdoorsmen in Wheelchairs ™ annual hunt. Subsequently, other properties have been acquired including the IL Ranch, Horseshoe Ranch and Big Springs Ranch.
